Farewell Trip-Sydney, NSW

I realize I haven't blogged in a couple of weeks and that is very unlike me, but I figured I would wait until I was back in the United States, which I am!

As I am waiting in the L.A. airport for my next flight to board, I figured I would give you a brief overview of what I have been up to for the last two weeks! I visited Sydney and Fiji with some friends and of course, both trips exceeded my expectations. From living in Australia for 5 months, I have learned to relax and not really have expectations, it makes it that much better.

Sydney was a good closure to the trip. It didn't register that it was the last place I was going to be before leaving Australia for good, I decided to block that out of my mind so I would just enjoy the trip and not be depressed about the whole "leaving" thing. I knew I was going to have to say goodbyes eventually, but it was better to just enjoy the time we all had together.

The Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge are just as spectacular as I thought they were going to be! All I could think of was Finding Nemo, is that bad? HA Of course I would think of that first. By the way, 42 Wallaby Way Sydney does not exist, Todd and I investigated. Bummer, right? Anyway, during the three days we had there we toured the harbour by ferry, saw a Broadway show at the opera house and walked about 40 miles all around the city! The city was pretty amazing, business folk everywhere! It wasn't really my style, but the views were great and the atmosphere was upbeat to say the least. We had gorgeous weather, a little chilly for my liking, but comfortable. Sam, Brittany, Todd, and I ran into Sara at a bar with her family while we were there too, which was completely unexpected! They were visiting for the week and they happened to be visiting Sydney at the same time. We joined them for happy hour just in time to see the 2nd State of Origin game that was actually being played in Sydney. Queensland won of course and that made them a stepping stone in history, 4 wins in a row! Go QLD!

Our hostel was right in the middle of all the city hustle and bustle and it was great for transportation. Kings Cross is where we stayed and we basically walked everywhere we needed to go. We toured the Botanical Gardens, Hyde Park, Bondi Beach, and the Sydney Aquarium...basically we hit all the hot spots in 3 days! I have about 1,000 pictures of Sydney harbour and the Opera House, it's addicting! Here are some of them.

I couldn't bear to say farewell, but I promised myself I would make it back to this beautiful country, and that's a must! I have already made a list of what I still need to do, it's an excuse to book a flight back here.

More on Fiji later, I am about to board my flight to Chicago, and then onto CVG airport! See you all soon! BYE FOR NOW :)
